Sound Healing FAQ

What is sound healing?  IMG 8832 1721841867538

Sound healing is a wellness practice that uses vibrations and tones from instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, drums, or the human voice to support relaxation, mindfulness, and a sense of balance. Many people find that sound-based experiences help them slow down, reduce stress, and deepen their meditation or self-care practices.

How does sound healing work?

Sound healing is based on the idea that sound and vibration can influence our mental, emotional, and physical state. While scientific research is still evolving, many people report feeling calmer, more centered, and deeply relaxed after a session. Experiences vary from person to person.

What happens during a sound healing session?

Each practitioner has their own unique approach. You may be invited to lie comfortably on a treatment table or yoga mat while the practitioner plays various instruments around you. Some sessions may also incorporate breathwork, meditation, Reiki, massage, acupuncture, yoga, or other complementary wellness modalities.

The goal is to create a peaceful environment where you can relax and simply receive the experience.

What might I feel during a session?

Everyone’s experience is different. You may notice:

  • Deep relaxation
  • A sense of calm or mental clarity
  • Tingling or warmth
  • Emotional release
  • Vivid imagery or dream-like states
  • Feeling refreshed or energized afterward

Some people simply enjoy a restful meditative experience, while others notice subtle shifts over time.

Do I need any experience with meditation?

Not at all. Sound healing is accessible to beginners and experienced meditators alike. There is nothing you need to “do” during the session other than get comfortable and allow yourself to relax.

Is sound healing a medical treatment?

No. Sound healing is considered a complementary wellness practice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. It should not replace medical care or mental health treatment. If you have concerns about your health, please consult your healthcare provider.

Is sound healing safe?

For most people, yes. However, certain sounds or vibrations may not be appropriate for everyone. Please let your practitioner know before your session if you:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have epilepsy or a seizure disorder
  • Have a pacemaker or implanted medical device
  • Experience sound sensitivity or severe tinnitus
  • Have recently experienced a concussion or head injury
  • Have any medical condition that may require special accommodations

Your practitioner can modify the session to better meet your needs.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax. Layers are recommended, as body temperature can fluctuate during deep relaxation.

What should I bring?

Depending on the setting, you may wish to bring:

  • A yoga mat (if requested)
  • A blanket
  • A pillow or bolster
  • Water
  • An eye pillow or eye mask (optional)

Your practitioner will let you know if anything specific is needed.

Can children participate?

Some practitioners offer family-friendly or children’s sound sessions, while others work exclusively with adults. Please check with your practitioner before booking.

How often should I receive sound healing?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people enjoy occasional sessions for relaxation, while others incorporate sound healing into their regular wellness routine. Your practitioner can help you determine what feels appropriate for your personal goals.

Can sound healing be combined with other wellness services?

Yes. Many of our practitioners integrate sound into other services such as massage therapy, Reiki, acupuncture, meditation, breathwork, yoga, energy work, and holistic wellness sessions. Ask your practitioner how sound may be incorporated into your appointment.

What if I fall asleep?

That’s perfectly okay! Many people drift into a deeply relaxed state during sound healing. Your body can still benefit from the calming experience even if you fall asleep.

What should I do after my session?

Take a few moments to transition back into your day. Drinking water, resting, journaling, or spending time in nature can help you continue enjoying the sense of relaxation and well-being many people experience after a session.

Reiki FAQ

New to Reiki? You’re in the Right Place.

If you’ve been curious about Reiki but aren’t quite sure what it is—or if you’ve wondered whether it’s right for you—you’ve come to the right place.

20240625 144520

Many of our clients tell us they were a little nervous before their first session. Some weren’t sure what to expect. Others were skeptical but were looking for a new way to manage stress, reconnect with themselves, or simply find a sense of peace.

That’s exactly why we’re here.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, complementary wellness practice that promotes deep relaxation and supports your body’s natural ability to restore balance. During a session, your practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above your body while working with your energy field.

Many people leave feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, more centered, or simply refreshed. Every person’s experience is unique.

What Happens During My First Session?

When you arrive, we’ll spend a few minutes talking about what brought you in and answering any questions you may have.

You’ll remain fully clothed and rest comfortably on a massage table in a quiet, peaceful room. Your only job is to relax.

Your practitioner will gently work with your energy while checking in as needed. Many people feel warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or even drift into a light sleep. Others simply enjoy an hour of uninterrupted peace.

After your session, we’ll talk about your experience and answer any questions before you leave.

Is Reiki Religious?

No.

Reiki is a spiritual practice in the sense that it encourages relaxation, mindfulness, and personal well-being, but it is not connected to any religion. People of all faiths—and those with no religious beliefs at all—receive Reiki.

What Can Reiki Help With?

While Reiki is not a medical treatment and should never replace professional healthcare, many people choose Reiki to support their overall well-being by helping them:

• Reduce stress
• Relax deeply
• Feel more emotionally balanced
• Improve their sense of calm
• Support mindfulness and self-care
• Create space for personal reflection

What Should I Wear?

Comfortable clothing is perfect.

You’ll remain fully clothed during your session, so simply wear something you can relax in.

What If I Don’t Feel Anything?

That’s completely okay.

Some people notice warmth, tingling, or emotional release during their first session. Others simply feel peaceful or relaxed. Every experience is different, and Reiki does not require you to “feel” something specific to be meaningful.

Still Not Sure?

We understand.

Trying something new can feel like a big step. If you have questions, we’d be happy to talk with you before you schedule an appointment.

Our goal is simply to help you feel comfortable, informed, and supported.

Ready to Experience Reiki?

Whether you’re looking for stress relief, emotional balance, or simply an hour to reconnect with yourself, we’d be honored to welcome you to Healing House Energy Spa.

We look forward to meeting you.

General FAQ

Healing House – Frequently Asked Questions

What is energy work?

Energy work is a gentle, supportive practice that focuses on creating conditions where the nervous system may feel safe enough to settle and rest. It isn’t about fixing the body or forcing change, but about offering space for regulation and awareness.

Is energy work meant to fix something that’s broken?

No. Energy work does not assume anything is broken. It’s offered as support, not correction, and works alongside the body’s existing capacity for balance and rest.

Is there a right way to feel during or after a session?

There isn’t. People report a wide range of experiences — deep relaxation, subtle shifts, emotional neutrality, or very little sensation at all. All responses are valid.

Do I need to feel strong sensations for energy work to be helpful?

Not at all. Some people notice physical sensations, while others don’t feel much during a session. A lack of sensation doesn’t mean the session wasn’t supportive.

Does healing require effort or focus during a session?

No. Healing doesn’t require effort, concentration, or doing anything correctly. Many people find that simply resting and allowing space is the most supportive approach.

Is emotional release expected during sessions?

Emotional responses can happen, but they’re not required. Sessions may feel quiet, steady, or subtle, and those experiences can be supportive too.

Do I need to believe in energy work for it to work?

Belief isn’t required. Curiosity and openness are enough. You’re welcome to approach sessions in whatever way feels most comfortable to you.

Will I notice results immediately?

Responses vary. Some people notice changes right away, others gradually, and some simply enjoy the time to rest. There’s no set timeline or expectation.

Does energy work replace medical care?

No. Energy work is not a substitute for medical care. It may feel supportive for relaxation and overall well-being, and should be used alongside licensed medical care when needed.

Am I in control during a session?

Yes. Your comfort, consent, and choice are central. You remain in control throughout the session, and feedback is always welcome.

How often should I receive energy work?

There’s no universal schedule. Some people choose regular sessions, others come occasionally. Listening to what feels right for you matters most.

Is healing something that gets completed?

Healing is often an ongoing process rather than a finish line. It can involve listening, adjusting, and responding to the body’s needs over time, without urgency or pressure.

AromaTouch FAQ

AromaTouch Technique® Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AromaTouch Technique®?

The AromaTouch Technique® is a gentle, relaxing application of doTERRA® essential oils along the back and feet using light touch and specific application methods. The session is designed to create a calming, nurturing experience that supports overall well-being and relaxation.

What happens during an AromaTouch session?

During your session, you’ll typically lie face down on a massage table while the practitioner applies a sequence of doTERRA essential oils and blends to your back and feet using gentle, rhythmic movements. Unlike a traditional massage, the focus is on the application of essential oils rather than deep tissue or muscle manipulation.

Is the AromaTouch Technique® a massage?

No. While the session involves touch, it is not considered massage therapy. The technique uses light, consistent movements to apply essential oils and create a relaxing experience rather than addressing muscle tension through massage techniques.

What essential oils are used?

The AromaTouch Technique® follows a specific sequence of doTERRA essential oils and proprietary blends. Your practitioner can explain which oils are used during your session and discuss any preferences or sensitivities you may have.

What should I wear?

Most clients undress to their comfort level so the back can be accessed while remaining appropriately draped throughout the session. Your practitioner will explain what to expect and ensure your privacy and comfort at all times. Pants and underwear are left on.

How long does a session last?

Most AromaTouch sessions last between 30 and 40 minutes, though timing may vary depending on the practitioner and whether the technique is combined with other wellness services.

What might I experience during or after the session?

Everyone’s experience is unique. Many clients describe feeling deeply relaxed, calm, grounded, or refreshed. Some choose to rest, hydrate, or take it easy for the remainder of the day.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing, arrive well hydrated, and let your practitioner know about any allergies, skin sensitivities, medical conditions, or medications that may be relevant to your session.

Is the AromaTouch Technique® safe for everyone?

Most people tolerate the technique well; however, it may not be appropriate for everyone. Please let your practitioner know if you are pregnant or nursing, have sensitive skin, have known allergies to essential oils or other ingredients, have a medical condition, or are currently under a physician’s care. Your practitioner can help determine whether modifications are appropriate.

Can the AromaTouch Technique® be combined with other services?

Yes. Many practitioners incorporate the AromaTouch Technique® into a broader wellness session alongside services such as massage therapy, Reiki, energy work, or other complementary wellness practices.

How often should I receive an AromaTouch session?

The frequency depends on your personal wellness goals and preferences. Some clients enjoy sessions occasionally for relaxation, while others choose to receive them as part of their regular self-care routine.

Is the AromaTouch Technique® intended to treat medical conditions?

No. The AromaTouch Technique® is a complementary wellness service intended to support relaxation and overall well-being. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease and should not replace medical care from a qualified healthcare provider.
